sugar-frosted sunset

by Rachel Lynch

Weetzie blonde blew down sunset in a 1950's green cadillac and her best friends. They wore matching neon platforms and oversized sunnies. After a long day of snapping film photos and polaroids on Hollywood Boulevard, they cruised through the Hollywood Hills as the pink sky filled what was left of the crystal-blue day. They spun down from the mountains and headed to Sunset Boulevard, to get dinner at one of Weetzie's favorite diners. Mel's Diner was full of classic turquoise booths and sparkle pink chairs. They drank strawberry milkshakes and shared huge plates of fries. Weetzie smiled, she was surrounded by all the love she ever needed.

LA Fox

by Rachel Lynch

The desert jungle. Born blonde in the USA. I used to wonder which coast I belonged on, now I can see that it's both. I'm defined by neither but express myself in each. Honey flows from the sun on west while others speed on the subway in the east.

In LA, I learned to wake up early, but take it slow. I sat outside under the sky and danced on the streets of silverlake in my 6-inch platforms. I saw reflections in my aviators, and fell in love with the feel of it all.

you must be one of the dreamers

by Rachel Lynch

You must be one of the dreamers. One of the wild ones, whose eyes are as deep blue as the skies. Expansive and endless like your mind. Living in a perpetual state of more, one sentence always bleeds into the next. Now that it's over, I can breath again - I can see all the colors, hear the sounds, feel another's touch and express words. They say that is real which never changes, but I'm pretty sure everything does.

LA Boss Girl

by Rachel Lynch

Los Angeles, Boss ass bitch. Rodeo drive and a need for adventure. Stars in her eyes and flowers in her hair. They grow where she walks, platinum star. Speeding down sunset with the top back, her feet up on the dash, and the stones on loud, this was where she first fell in love.

all west coast and divinity ghosts

by Rachel Lynch

Sedated on a sun high. Desert lips, brush up against it all. I feel the sun bleed through my skin and i’m saturated. Mind sinks into a warm-soak, I throw my legs up and smoke in the van. It’s all too real, the most natural of highs. Shaken by the infinite variety, I let my left hand slip onto you. We’re in it, and we’re free. I pray and I see it all passing. No, I never ask for anything to stay. Did you find your fear? Do you feel it? I see it all as flowing, I get over death as if it never happened. Perpetual and eternal, I am one with it all.

i hate blonde x shopbop

by Rachel Lynch

Last month was the beginning of my collaboration with shopbopEach month, I'll be receiving a piece from them and styling it for you all here on my blog. This month, I chose this awesome Alexander Wang dress. It's got a cool back that almost feels like a distressed tee-shirt. I styled it with a pair of furry, heavy metal Jeffrey Campbell boots I was gifted last month as well. The front of this piece is very sleek and sophisticated. I'm excited to wear it to fashion week with a huge fur or oversized jacket.

hollywood barbie

by Rachel Lynch in

Weetzie Bat blonde speeding down the hollywood boulevard in silver-screen shades and pink thigh-high boots. It’s all magic and it is all wonderful. She is alive in the sunshine that creeps through the palm trees that align the street. It warms her skin and gives her hair a honey glow.

She slipped into the diner to eat french fries with her boy. Her blue-eyed lover, her cosmic-match. Her kissed her and said, “You are my Marilyn. You are my lake full of fishes. You are my sky set, my ‘Hollywood in Miniature,’ my pink Cadillac, my highway, my martini, the stage for my heart to rock and roll on, the screen where my movies light up.”

desert home, love stoned

by Rachel Lynch in

Lost in the wild. Never knew where we are, never needed to know just where we were. Everything was alright. Breathing the blue air, taking in where I was. We showed up in a 1960s red van, hoped out and took our black boots to the sand. Smoking and swinging in our little desert outfits. We explored the sands with our cameras, telling stories and capturing memories with our lenses. Each unique to us, mountains crawling up and touching the sky. The sun beat down upon our skin, freckles began to show, and we drove from cactus grove to cactus grove, taking in all that we could. The sky was so wide, it was as Fitzgerald said, I was overwhelmed by the inexhaustible variety of life.

But overwhelmed as I was, I found hope in every turn. I realized that in me, there laid an invincible summer.
