The Ace Hotel

by Rachel Lynch in

IMG_6004IMG_6018IMG_6019IMG_60201200There were a few pieces that I had sent to me for Fashion Week that I didn't get a chance to wear. This teal dress from Missguided is one of them. I really love the cut of the top, probably my favorite part of the dress aside from the color. I decided to pair it with a bunch of my weird alien rings and a simple gold charm necklace.

I enjoyed an afternoon coffee at the Ace Hotel in the West Village. It's really such a lovely place to just hang and work.

Saturday calls for a mix of fancy/casual. I decided to pair this ulta simple Nasty Gal dress with dark coffee-colored accents, my awesome Paul's Boutique bag and this Kate Moss-inspired faux-fur coat. There's something about this look that feels very summer turning into fall. I'd don't know about your closet, but mine is a mix of brining the fall furs in, yet still in love with some of my simple summer pieces. The weather is allowing for this closet confusion, so I'm not too stressed about it.

I'm excited for this weekend, I'm doing two shoots for some big brands, then Monday I'm heading to South Carolina for the first time. Holding onto summer vibes for as long as possible.

I HATE BLONDE IN NYLON JAPAN

by Rachel Lynch in ,

I Hate Blonde I Hate Blonde I Hate Blonde I Hate Blonde I Hate Blonde I Hate Blonde I Hate Blonde I Hate Blonde I Hate Blonde I Hate BlondeI am happy to announce that these photos Brittanny shot of me are this month's NYLON Japan! They wanted to do a feature on my "character" obsession which is Barbie, of course. Pictured is my Barbie backpack, that I actually take to yoga and acting class with me daily. I also have a variety of Barbie mugs at home that I use for tea! I've been obsessed with Barbie since I was a little girl and she's definitely a huge style inspiration for me! I remember going to target and feeling so excited to get new dolls with my Mom! My sisters and I used to have a Barbie room in the basement, where we all had our big Barbie Dream Houses and families, and cars, and clothes! It was like a little magical world of our own.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoy and pick up a copy if you can! This is my second time in the Nylon Japan magazine and I look forward to so many more project with them and their killer kawaii aesthetic!

One of the baddest Chicago bitches I've met, Nina spends time working/living in both Chi and New York City. She recently started dropping some clothing, so of course, she hooked it up with a shirt. I turned the soft tee into a dress and took some images on a disposable camera at Yotel on the West Side. Developed the images and passed them along to her, where she turned them into the magical visuals they now are.

Really hope you guys enjoy, lots more to come from the both of us.

We sipped champagne in the afternoon and just talked about everything. It's days like that which remind me how lucky I am to have loyal friends in a big and sometimes scary city like New York. No matter what happens, I know they have my back and I have theirs.

And speaking of loyalty, one brand I feel very close to, Chi Flo, sent me this dope leotard the other week. I actually love that it has long sleeves, I plan on wearing it to yoga now that it's actually getting colder. My yoga studio is in Soho, so this leo will be nice and cozy to wear under my leather jacket on the subway ride there! Of course it could also be very cool to wear on a night out with leather pants and a stud choker.

I hope you all have a really awesome Monday, I'm off to get ready for a shoot in the West Village!

I'm so excited to turn up and spend some time with my friends. Tonight, I'm excited to hit a rooftop party hosted by one of my photographer friends in Williamsburg. And Sunday, I'm shooting a little something special for YRU shoes with my girl Jen that I'm really stoked about. Should be a really dope weekend. I've been taking things a little bit easy since fashion week ended, but now it's time to grind.

The streets are alive with the energy of the fashion-obsessed youth who dance around till all hours of the morning. There is no way to describe this energy, you just have to be here. In all my photos and posts, (especially those about New York) I try to capture this energy and feeling. I want you to be right there with me, swallowed by New York. It's hard, because an outfit post will never show you what it actually feels like to be in the energy and madness that is NYFW. But luckily, I've become really good friends with the talented photographer, Jen Senn. I feel like she actually has somehow found the way to capture things just as they are, with taste and aesthetic. It was fun going from party to party with her and just not caring and letting lose. This post is not meant to be perfect, and it's not meant to sell you anything. Hopefully you can feel what it's like to be in New York with these photos, and they offer you a sneak peek into the side of fashion week you never get to see.

I wanted to stick with my black + white/mod vibes. The night before a giant box of YRU shoes arrived at my door, so of course I had to rock a pair. I really love these zip up black platforms. They're super comfortable and can match with just about anything. The last day of fashion week was also the final day I did my instagram takeover for Zero UV, so of course I had to rock a pair of their sunnies. I also pulled my UNIF neoprene jacket and Paul's boutique bag to create my Mod-in-London look.

Shooka and I took the day pretty easy, aka we were basically over it. We hung at the Ace Hotel with our friend, sipped on some champagne and ate a fancy restaurant before heading to a party at the James Hotel. Having my best friend there really made it amazing! Shooka and I are sad we're not at London Fashion Week right now, but best believe you will be seeing us there next year. I'm actually thinking of heading to London next month or the following one just to check it out and visit some of the brands I work with there. I've only been to Paris (where I did a year of school) and actually never made it to London. I'm super exciting to see it/ this black and white mod look featuring two London-based clients of mine was really inspiring for the day-dreamings of a trip!

NYFW was amazing as always. I was surrounded by so many wonderful and talented friends, which really makes it beautiful.

She rose and stood bright in the glimmering sun. She became a silent movie. Slow motion, the heart never forgets. The words fought to jump from her lips, the beaming syllables were practically ready to spill from her tongue. She danced to Elliot Smith and let it all slide under her skin. She kept it all in. If only she knew, that one day it would be too much. One day, it would pour from every essence of her being. Truths have a way of revealing themselves, one way or another.

Creative lovers sinking to the depths. Her baby lives in shades of pastels. Her heart is unbreakable. I bet she stood by him through it all, keep the goddess on your side. He didn't want her all the time, but it was worth it anyway. Thrown at the day so powerfully, it's romantic, it's slow.

He taps at her window, willing that she'll let him in. She writes him a story, she falls asleep in his arms. And he's gonna save her, call her baby. Lover be brave. Silver lining dancing in the sun, listening to cat power and laugher. Slow like honey. Brush strokes and blonde hair. Let us love for a while, the gift of disillusion. It's divine. Laying in the light, lost in the stories. Fragile. They feel the sweetness that they pour into everything. Lost in the only thing truly worth getting lost in. They can't help but smiling.

The day started with front row seats at the beautiful Darkoh menswear show. Probably one of my favorites this season, the designer started with a bang, and three aqua suits. Had a girl feeling like she found the Ken to her Barbie. But really, each suit was killer and I was just sitting there like, "why do I not run around in mini suits?"

Next we headed to the Lincoln Center for more menswear. We shot our looks then headed to a restaurant across the street for afternoon cocktails and appetizers. Then it was a ride down to the Standard Hotel where we saw the Maison Kitsune presentation. The sunset was beautiful as it filled the room with light. The whole collection had this really effortless french vibe, which made me miss Paris.

After that we headed to Tao for the Nylon party. There I met the owner of Nylon, Mark and the Jonas Brothers! So many other great blogger friends of mine were there too and I'm lucky I was literally able to get a plus five for all my friends (I don't really think that was allowed.) We drank and dance and took pictures in the amazing Rebel Fashion photobooth.

And believe it or not, the night did not end there. We ended up back at the Standard Hotel for the Maison Kitsune after party at Le Bain. The roof was gorgeous at night and the view of the city from there is incomparable to any other.

Needless to say, Shooka and I spent most of the following day in bed. Skipping two shows, ordering food, and working from out computers in my bed. It actually felt good to have some time to relax.

Anyways I'm off to get ready for my show at the Lincoln Center at noon! Thanks to everyone who has been following me this week, it's been a whirlwind!

Sheena showed a collection of pastel leathers and amazing cuts. She had long leather jackets and cropped leather jackets in baby blue, baby pink and white. My favorite look of the show was when she paired a white leather jacket and bodysuit with snake print thigh-high boots. It was amazing! (And I wanted to be a blonde super hero in that outfit!)

After that show we headed to Milk studios to see the menswear presentations. Everything was so funky and fun. I really love what Milk does for fashion week, so my speed.

After that we went to the Caravan Styling Studios party and dance while snacking on delicious vegan food! It's been so nice having an entire crew of friends at every event. It makes fashion week so much more fun when you're surrounded by laughs and love.

SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSCThe third day of fashion week was spent almost entirely at the Dream Hotel. I was feeling the mod vibes (and the lazy vibes) again so I decided to go with an all black and white outfit. I figured these Jeffrey Campbell thigh-high boots would be the perfect thing to compliment my new Missguided romper. I felt like a little mod doll and spent the afternoon sipping a margarita and eating delicious guacamole at the Dream Hotel.

I also figured it was the perfect day to pull out my new Paul's Boutique bag. They were kind enough to sponsor Shooka and I for fashion week. I adore the shape and color of this bag. I also though the orange offered a cool pop of color into the look.

I had a great evening out, hitting about four different events and not getting home until three in the morning (ugh!) Anyways, Shooka and I also shot some cool film photos that I'm hoping to develop tomorrow and share with you guys soon!
